Air conditioning in Marbella, what to know

In Marbella the typical job is not a single split but conditioning an entire villa, and that changes the approach from the outset. In homes of 200 m² or more, distribution between rooms matters more than headline capacity: a double-height living room with south-facing glazing needs roughly twice the cooling of an internal bedroom of the same floor area, and if the system is sized by eye it short-cycles and burns electricity. So we run a room-by-room load calculation before proposing anything. Many urbanisations in Nueva Andalucía, Elviria and along the Golden Mile enforce strict aesthetic rules: the outdoor unit must not be visible from the street or the pool, so we place it on the roof, in a plant area or behind a louvre screen, with the pipe run resolved through the false ceiling. On new builds and full renovations we almost always recommend ducted systems with linear grilles rather than wall splits, both for looks and because they distribute far better across large floor plates. One thing specific to this market is seasonal occupancy. If the house sits empty from October to May, the system should be left on wifi control with a service booked before your arrival, because coastal salt air attacks the outdoor coil while nobody is using it. Many Marbella villas pair air conditioning with solar and a battery: the cooling peak matches solar production, and the battery covers overnight bedroom use as well.

A single 1x1 split installed in Marbella starts at around €1,550 with an A+++ inverter unit. A three-room multi-split typically lands between €3,200 and €4,500 depending on the pipe run between the outdoor and indoor units and whether we can route through a false ceiling. Quotes are fixed after the site visit.

Yes, and it is the combination that makes most sense here, because the cooling peak lines up almost exactly with midday solar production. Roughly 3 kWp of extra panels covers the daytime cooling load of an average home in Marbella. We size both in one survey: request a quote.

A single split takes one morning. A three- or four-room multi-split takes one to two days. We work to a booked slot and leave the property clean the same day.

It depends where the unit goes. On a private terrace or patio, usually not. If the outdoor unit is fixed to a shared façade or roof, the community must authorise it, and in Marbella many statutes also require it to sit behind a louvre screen. We prepare the technical note for your administrador de fincas.

Yes. We install aerothermal systems for heating, cooling and domestic hot water, they perform very well on the coast thanks to the mild winter temperatures. It is the usual route when replacing a gas boiler or electric tank and using surplus solar.

One service a year before summer: filter and coil cleaning, gas pressure and drainage checks. On the coast, salt air accelerates corrosion of the outdoor unit, so the coil wash is not optional. It can be bundled into Mi Techo Care.

We install with Mi Techo Solar's own staff from our workshop at Calle Arquímedes 86, Local 9, in Coín. The engineer who visits you in Marbella is the one who sizes the system, installs it, signs the installation certificate and comes back for the annual service. We do not use sales agents who sell and disappear, which is why our quote is a fixed price.

We normally install Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Samsung inverter heat-pump units. We choose them because they have real service support and spare parts in the province of Málaga: if a control board fails in August we get it in days, not weeks. If you already have one brand in the house we stay with it, so existing pipework and central controls can be reused where their condition allows.

Often, yes. We check the diameter and condition of the copper lines, pull a vacuum and run a leak test, and if the circuit is sound we reuse the route, which makes a replacement notably cheaper. Where the old unit ran R-22, the pipework can usually be kept after a chemical flush. When it is not safe we say so and run new lines: we would rather do that than deal with a breakdown in the middle of summer in Marbella.

A site visit in Marbella is usually within 48 hours and the fixed quote follows within 24 hours of that visit. You get the manufacturer's warranty on the equipment (typically three years, extendable depending on the brand) plus our own warranty on labour and installation. Servicing and aftercare are handled by our own team, not a call centre.

Contacté con ellos para la instalación de dos baterías Deye adicionales en mi sistema fotovoltaico y el servicio ha sido rápido, eficiente y muy profesional.
