Air conditioning in Fuengirola, what to know

Fuengirola is a town of apartment blocks rather than villas, and that shapes every air conditioning job we do here. The first question is never which unit, it is where the condenser can go. In the 1970s and 80s buildings in the centre and Los Boliches, the default is the internal light well, which typically already holds four or five machines and has very little airflow. Add another without checking the free volume and the condenser recirculates its own hot air, loses capacity in August and eventually trips on high pressure. So we measure the light well before accepting the job and, if it will not take another unit, we propose the terrace or roof with the appropriate permission. Penthouses with a solarium are easier because the unit goes above, though the pipe route and roof-slab waterproofing need care. Many Fuengirola communities have statutes requiring that the unit not project past the balcony rail or be visible from the street, entirely workable if planned properly, and we prepare the submission for the administrador de fincas where needed. Indicative prices: a 3.5 kW inverter split from around €1,400 installed, and a two-room multi-split, the most common request in a two-bedroom flat, between €2,400 and €3,100. If the block has, or is planning, solar on the communal roof, air conditioning is precisely the load that makes that installation pay, because it runs during peak production hours.

We choose them because they have real service support and spare parts in the province of Málaga: if a control board fails in August we get it in days, not weeks. If you already have one brand in the house we stay with it, so existing pipework and central controls can be reused where their condition allows.

Often, yes. We check the diameter and condition of the copper lines, pull a vacuum and run a leak test, and if the circuit is sound we reuse the route, which makes a replacement notably cheaper. Where the old unit ran R-22, the pipework can usually be kept after a chemical flush. When it is not safe we say so and run new lines: we would rather do that than deal with a breakdown in the middle of summer in Fuengirola.

"Muy buena experiencia con Mi Techo Solar. Contacté con ellos para la instalación de dos baterías Deye adicionales en mi sistema fotovoltaico y el servicio ha sido rápido, eficiente y muy profesional.
