The old town and districts like La Trinidad and El Perchel barely cool down overnight because of the urban heat-island effect, and in July and August the overnight minimum rarely drops below 24 °C. That is why most systems we install here are not a single unit but a multi-split with an indoor head in the main bedroom, the real problem is not the living room in the afternoon, it is sleeping. In older buildings in the Centro you cannot always hang the outdoor unit on the façade: parts of the historic centre are heritage-protected and many community statutes require the condenser to sit in an internal courtyard or on the roof behind a louvre, which changes the pipe run and the price. We settle that on the site visit before quoting a figure. In Teatinos and Puerto de la Torre, where the building stock is newer and ducting is often pre-installed, many homes suit a ducted system that conditions the whole property from one point and stays hidden in the false ceiling.
