Solar panels in Málaga, what to know

An off grid solar system in Spain is the answer when a property has no grid connection, or when the utility's connection quote is simply out of proportion — common on plots around Coín, Álora, Ronda, Antequera and the Loja area. Unlike an off-grid solar kit bought in an online shop, we size the system from your real consumption: how many panels fit and are needed, which hybrid inverter handles the start-up peaks of a water pump or air conditioning, and how many kWh of battery you need to ride out two or three days without sun. Prices range from around 8,500 € for a small country house with 5–10 kWh of storage up to 28,000–45,000 € for a self-sufficient home with 30–40 kWh, ATS and EPS. We work with Aiko panels, Deye and Huawei hybrid inverters and Mi Techo Solar batteries, and we handle mounting, wiring, commissioning, documentation and the maintenance afterwards. It is the same approach as the Loja project shown on this page: 28 × 610 W panels, a single-phase 15 kW Deye and 32 kWh of storage with ATS and EPS.

<p><strong>ATS</strong> switches automatically between solar, battery and generator or grid, with nothing to do by hand. <strong>EPS</strong> is the emergency output that keeps the fridge, water pump, internet and alarm running during an outage. Off-grid, the ATS prevents running out of power in winter; on a grid-connected home, the EPS makes cuts unnoticeable.</p>

<p>It depends on daily consumption and days of autonomy. As a guide: 5–10 kWh for weekend use and irrigation, 15–20 kWh for a family all year with a pump and air conditioning, and 30–40 kWh for real self-sufficiency with a heat pump, pool or EV. <p>An <strong>off-grid solar kit</strong> looks cheaper on the invoice, but it arrives without a consumption calculation, without mounting adapted to your roof, without ATS or EPS, without paperwork and without anyone to call when the battery falls short in January. A grid connection quote for a remote plot often exceeds 20,000 €, with monthly standing charges on top. An off-grid system is a one-off investment with no meter charges.

ATS and EPS: what keeps the lights on

ATS — automatic transfer switch

Switches the house automatically between solar, battery and a generator or grid feed. No manual switching, no gap in supply, and the generator only starts when the battery really needs it.

EPS — emergency power supply

A backup output that keeps essential circuits running: fridge, freezer, water pump, internet, lighting and alarm. Ideal for homes that do have a grid connection but suffer frequent cuts.

Off-grid solar kit or a custom off-grid solar system?

Hundreds of people every month search for a cheap kit solar online. That is fine for a shed or a caravan, but a home with air conditioning, a water pump and a pool needs something else: a system sized to your real consumption.
