A solar carport is a steel structure that supports an array of solar panels above a parking space. The panels generate electricity that you self-consume, send to your battery, or feed into an EV charger. In Spain, a single car bay produces roughly 7,000 kWh per year, enough to drive an EV more than 35,000 km on sunlight alone.
Residential carports typically cover 1–4 spaces and connect directly to the home's solar inverter. Commercial parkings can scale to dozens or hundreds of bays, often combined with battery storage and dynamic load management for fleets of EV chargers.
Mi Techo Solar uses a modular grid based on 3.2 m wide bays, 6.0 m deep and 2.4 to 3.0 m high. Heights are tuned to local regulations and SUV clearance. Single-row designs hug the property line; double-row designs share a central column for maximum efficiency on large parkings.
