Solar carport or solar pergola?

A carport is built around vehicles and maximises kWp per parking bay; a pergola is built around people, over a terrace, dining area or pool, where the finish matters as much as the yield. Structure, panels, inverters, warranty and installation team are identical, and so are the prices per kWp, so you can combine both on one inverter, one battery and one app.

Solar carports for parking in Andalucía

A sun-baked car park on the Costa del Sol is wasted surface. A solar carport generates electricity, shields vehicles from Saharan dust and hail, and provides shade in summer, exactly when air-conditioning demand and solar output peak together.

How much a carport produces in Málaga province

Each covered parking bay allows roughly 2–3 kWp. With Málaga's irradiation (around 1,600–1,800 kWh per kWp per year) a 20-bay carport can reach some 50 kWp and produce in the order of 80,000 kWh a year, depending on orientation and shading.

Because every structure is bespoke, we always model production in PVGIS using the site's real coordinates before quoting.

Structure, wind loads and permits

We use hot-dip galvanised or powder-coated steel, sized to the Spanish Technical Building Code for the wind loads of the Málaga coastline, with reinforced anti-corrosion treatment within one kilometre of the sea.

A carport counts as building work: it needs a municipal licence and, above certain power levels, a stamped project and legalisation with the Junta de Andalucía's Industry office. We manage the whole file, including EV charger and battery integration where applicable.

A solar carport shades your car and produces the energy that charges it. We install photovoltaic canopies for homes, owners' associations and businesses across Málaga, Marbella, Estepona and the Costa del Sol, with galvanised or aluminium structures and panels integrated into the roof.

A two-car carport is typically 4 to 6 kWp, enough for daily EV charging plus part of the household load. Fixed-price quote including structural calculation, foundations, inverter, optional charge point and legalisation — the same build standard as our solar and photovoltaic pergolas.
