The question we hear most after a solar installation is simple: what does adding a battery cost? Here are the real ranges we apply in Málaga and the Costa del Sol in 2026.
Price ranges by capacity
- 5 kWh — small home or apartment with low evening use.
- 10 kWh — the most common choice for a family villa with air conditioning.
- 15–20 kWh — large home, pool, EV or working from home.
- 32 kWh and up — fincas and off-grid projects, like the Loja farmhouse.
Current prices per capacity, with real installations in Mijas, Alhaurín el Grande and Loja, are on our solar battery page.
What drives the price?
Three things: usable kWh, whether your inverter is already hybrid, and whether you want blackout backup (EPS/ATS). Adding storage to a non-hybrid system always costs more.
Does it pay off with self-consumption?
It depends how much you export today. A battery turns that surplus into your own consumption — see our self-consumption guide.
Grants, IBI and paperwork
Municipal IBI and ICIO reductions and the legalisation steps are covered per town on solar panels in Málaga and in the legalisation guide.
