Grants, IBI and ICIO for solar panels in Málaga: what you can claim

17 September 2026 3 min read

Many households in the province overpay simply because they never claim the reductions they are entitled to. Here is what exists, where to claim it and which documents you need.

1. IBI reduction

Article 74.5 TRLRHL lets town halls reduce up to 50% of the IBI property tax for homes with solar systems. Each town sets its own percentage and duration in its tax ordinance, so check yours.

2. ICIO reduction

Article 103.2.b allows up to 95% off the construction and installation tax, usually claimed when filing the works licence or responsible declaration.

3. Usual paperwork

  • Technical report or project for the installation.
  • Electrical Installation Certificate (CIE).
  • Invoice and proof of payment.
  • Cadastral reference of the property.

All of it is part of the dossier we prepare for every project — see the legalisation guide.

4. Where to claim in your town

Each town page names the responsible town hall and the local angle. Start with solar panels in Málaga, Marbella or Coín.

5. If you add a battery

Storage usually goes in the same works and the same dossier. Ranges and real cases on solar batteries.
