A guide for homeowners who want solar panels in Spain: how many, how much, how much you save, and what paperwork.
How many panels?
Depends on annual consumption. Examples for the Costa del Sol (1,750 kWh/kWp):
| Consumption | Panels (540 Wp) | Power | Production |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4,000 kWh | 5-6 | 2.7-3.2 kWp | ~4,700-5,600 kWh |
| 6,000 kWh | 7-8 | 3.8-4.3 kWp | ~6,650-7,500 kWh |
| 8,000 kWh | 9-10 | 4.9-5.4 kWp | ~8,500-9,450 kWh |
How much?
€500 per installed panel (540/610 Wp) from 10 panels, with inverter and legalisation. 10 panels: ~€5,000.
How much do you save?
At €0.20/kWh, a 5 kWp system produces ~9,000 kWh/year: €1,800/year. Payback: 5 to 7 years.
Battery?
A 5-10 kWh Pylontech increases self-consumption from 30% to 70%. See solar battery guide.
Paperwork
CIE, technical report, grid registration, Junta filing. We handle all of it. See legalisation.

What the budget looks like in each area
The prices here are the ones we apply in Málaga city, Marbella, Estepona, Vélez-Málaga and the Axarquía, and inland too: Cártama, Coín, Alhaurín de la Torre and Alhaurín el Grande. The gap between quotes is rarely the panel brand but the inverter and battery: a Deye hybrid with 10 kWh lands €1,500–€2,500 below the equivalent Huawei LUNA2000. You get both figures in the free solar study, along with your roof's real production.
