Air conditioning in Malaga: real consumption and how solar covers it

12 September 2026 3 min read

What air conditioning really costs in Malaga

A 3.5 kW split uses 0.8-1.1 kWh per running hour. A Costa del Sol home with three units running June to September typically spends EUR 250-500 per summer on cooling.

Cooling peaks at the same hours solar peaks, which makes it the easiest load to self-consume. Around 3-4 kWp covers almost all daytime air conditioning in an average home.

Air conditioning and solar in Málaga and Marbella

A villa in Marbella with three split units and a pool pump can run EUR 180–260 a month in July and August. Because the load peaks between 13:00 and 19:00, solar covers most of it directly: an 8 kWp system cuts a typical Costa del Sol summer bill by 60–75%, and a 10 kWh battery takes the evening hours as well.

For Málaga city apartments, a 3 kWp system plus an efficient inverter unit is usually enough. See air conditioning in Málaga or request a quote.
